CHANGES EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 1, 2025
The Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), while extensive in coverage, does not cover all physician services. This includes the administration of various immunizations that are not part of the publicly funded immunization schedule for Ontario.
We have been administering these immunizations free of cost to patients. In an effort to stay consistent with pricing and practices across the province, effective December 1, 2025, immunizations outside of the OHIP schedule will be billed an administration fee of $35. A list of these immunizations are to the right. Please note, these immunizations all require a prescription from your physician. Please review the Exceptions below as some immunizations are covered under OHIP for certain populations.
IMPORTANT EXCEPTIONS
The following immunizations will be billed a $35 administration fee:
***Please review IMPORTANT EXCEPTIONS as some of these immunizations are covered under OHIP for certain age groups.
We do not routinely administer or stock vaccines offered in grades 7 and 8, which are done by school-run clinics during the school year. These include HPV, Hepatitis B and Meningococcal vaccines.
Patients missing these vaccines can get the immunizations administered at Community Vaccination Clinics run by Ottawa Public Health. Please visit the link below for more information on these Community Vaccination Clinics and to schedule an appointment for the needed immunizations.
If you have been referred to an allergist and have been prescribed allergy shots, this medication should be administered at your allergist's office.
Unless you are already receiving allergy shots at Richmond Medical Clinic, we are unfortunately not able to accommodate any new allergy shot patients.
